APGENCO for its Dr.Narla Tata Rao Thermal Power Station (Dr.NTTPS), Vijayawada having installed capacity of 1260 MW has bagged the NATIONAL AWARD FOR MERITORIOUS PERFORMANCE in Power Sector under the category of THERMAL POWER STATIONS PERFORMANCE for the Year 2008-09. The Award has been instituted by the Ministry of Power, Government of India to inculcate a competitive spirit among the power utilities in the Country.

The award is received by Sri K.Vijayanand I.A.S., Managing Director, APGENCO, Sri C. Radha Krishna, Director (Thermal) and Sri S. Anjaneya Rao, Chief Engineer, O&M, Dr. NTTPS from Sri Sushilkumar Shinde, Hon'ble Union Minister of Power, Government of India on 29.01.2010.at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.

During the year 2008-09 the Station has generated 10341 MU of energy and achieved a plant load factor of 93.7% and a record heat rate of 2321 Kcal/kwh with availability of 95.1%. These achievements have made this station eligible for the award.

In this context, it is pertinent to mention that Dr.NTTPS, earlier VTPS has bagged the meritorious productivity awards from Ministry of Power, Government of India for 21 consecutive years and Incentive awards for 9 consecutive years in the past.
